Bay Sailing, NYC 2005 is an official limited edition art print by artist Wilfred Lang from the original painting of the same name. This Certified Art Giclee on canvas is numbered and signed by the artist.
Artist Wilfred Lang's style of painting lies between realism and the abstract. Many of Wilfred Lang's artworks, including Bay Sailing, NYC 2005 are both visions of New York as well as elaborations on his ideas about the collective consciousness. They are meditative artworks wherein New York has a symbolic meaning.
His half abstract painting style reinforces that dynamic between the energy of the urban reality and the contemplation of the subconscious. Wilfred Lang knows how to evoke subtle emotions with overlapping strokes of acrylic paint in vertical, geometric compositions. His paintings are a play of light and shape wherein the grand gesture of skyscrapers and bridges is juxtaposed with the small details of boats and splashes of color.
Artist Wilfred was born into an artistic family in Shanghai in 1954. He began to paint watercolors at the age of seven and learned all the traditional painting techniques from his father, who was also a painter.
Between 1972 and 1976 he attended art schools in Shanghai and Hong Kong where he developed his contemporary work. Since 1977 Wilfred has traveled extensively, living in Hawaii, Barcelona and Amsterdam. His work has been displayed throughout Europe, the United States and Asia.
